Tips Sought After Woman Killed In Capital Region Highway Crash

A woman died following a two-car crash on a highway in the region.

The incident happened at around 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, May 3 in Saratoga County, on I-87 in Clifton Park, according to State Police.

Investigators said a vehicle exited the highway at exit 9 before traveling over a median into the northbound lanes, where it crashed head on into a car driven by Charlaine Danaher, age 80, of Ballston Spa.

Danaher was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

Four people inside the other vehicle were taken to Albany Medical Center and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The northbound lanes of I-87 were closed for several hours while crews investigated the crash. The roadway has since reopened.

New York State Police asked anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact the agency at 518-583-7000.
